Red and green are some of the most traditional and popular holiday colors. Let's give ourselves "the green light" to go ahead and go greener this year by expanding our energy efficient habits. Think of red as a signal to stop energy draining and energy wasting habits. We'll show you how easy it is.
Plan ahead how you can use the savings. Here are some ideas to get you motivated: * Apply the savings to the down payment on your dream home for the holidays *"Spruce" up your holiday gift-giving budget ( save and share !) *Use the savings to purchase special home decor items to give your new home the warm and welcoming touch. *Host a holiday gathering to share the joy of being in your new home.
Do you want to decorate your new home but don't relish getting that high electric bill in January? Electricity is the greatest energy drain during the holiday season. However, you don't need to compromise while transforming your beautiful new home into a dazzling display of your creativity. There are some great new, and not so new, options available: Learn more next week.

Green Construction Big Savings

Yesterday I was showing a buyer an Energy Star certified home. She asked me why the house was priced $10 per sq ft more than other homes in the area. I had to pause and try to explain in a way that she could understand. If I started rattling off this rating and that rating it would not have met any thing. The bottom line is how much you save over a 5 to 10 year period on utility bills and property maintenance.
The materials used in green construction typically have a 35 to 50 year life span. That alone saves a tremendous amount of long term reinvestment in a home. However, immediate is the utility savings. This last month I paid $500 for utilities in a beautiful old home that has been renovated with lots of energy savings upgrades. A new construction green home would have cost $100 for the same utilities. Now in 1 year that is a $4800 savings on utilities alone.
A better built home that is designed with energy savings and low maintenance design features is a Smart Value.
